INDONEWTRAVEL.COM -- One of the cities in northwest Saudi Arabia, Tabuk, has been covered in snow since the new year, Saturday (1/1).
Citing the AP, many people flocked to Jebel Al Lawz as snow began to fall covering most of the area since Saturday (1/1).
Jebel Al Lawz is a mountain located in northwest Saudi Arabia, Tabuk Province. The mountain is near the Jordanian border, about 200 kilometers northwest of the city of Tabuk.
However, the extreme weather forced security forces to close the road to Jebel Al Lawz after thousands of residents and visitors came to enjoy the view.
More snow is expected in Jebel Al Lawz and the mountainous areas of Al Dhahir and Alqan on Sunday morning. Temperatures in both areas are expected to drop below zero degrees Celsius.
Saudi Arabia's Office of Civil Defense urged visitors and residents of Tabuk to remain vigilant amid low visibility and possible heavy rain and thunder expected to last through Monday.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's National Meteorological Center said thunderstorms accompanied by rain and hail are expected in Makkah, Al Bahah, Riyadh, Al Qassim and other areas of the kingdom.
In 2021, snow covered parts of a northern city in Saudi Arabia. The last time the Kingdom was hit by a sizable snowfall was in 2018. At that time, locals and tourists alike had fun snow activities such as sledding and snowball fighting.
