10 Best Resorts in Mazatlan

Mazatlan is one of Mexico's most famous beach destinations – and for good reason. The beautiful, historic city sits perched directly on the Sea of Cortez. With the sparkling sea stretched out before it, the entire city meanders along the coastline, creating one of the most interesting and diverse city-meets-sea resort destinations in Mexico.

The best hotels in Mazatlan stretch all the way from the Centro Historico up to the quieter and more secluded Emerald Bay in the north. Resorts run the gamut from mega all-inclusive to smaller boutique properties.

Whether you're looking for a prime beachfront location or a charming hotel in a historic building, Mazatlan has the resort to match.

The spacious, beachfront Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort & Spa is, without a doubt, one of the best resorts in Mazatlan. While not necessarily close to the thumping energy of Mazatlan's downtown core, the peace and tranquility of the Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay is exactly the vibe that its guests are looking for.

Travelers searching for a laid-back, luxurious beach holiday will find everything they are looking for from the Pueblo Bonito, with plenty of things to do on-site.

The resort is packed with features, like three pools, three restaurants, and a sprawling spa. Sprawling, however, is the operative word, and some guests may feel like the resort is a bit too large to navigate.

It is certainly a resort that is grand in scale, with nearly 400 guest rooms. But the lavish amount of space affords the resort the ability to offer distinct vibes and lots of places for its guests to create spaces of their own.

The Pueblo Bonito Emerald Bay Resort & Spa is a solid 25 minutes from Mazatlan's more tourist-trafficked Golden Zone. That means it's a considerable distance to get to restaurants and nightlife; however, those who stay at Pueblo Bonito do not seem to mind its location, as they come for the all-inclusive perks and the benefit of the secluded beach.

The resort features only two room categories, but both are suites, and all feature kitchenettes and private balconies. The rooms are tucked amid lush foliage and babbling koi ponds.

One of the best all-inclusive resorts in Mazatlan is the El Cid Marina Beach Hotel. This beautiful beachfront resort is designed like a small village and is located right next to the city's lovely marina.

The elegant resort is tucked amid gorgeous landscaping and lined with waterfront walkways that connect the rooms to the public spaces. The rooms themselves are spacious and modern, many with kitchenettes, clad in marble, and featuring private patios.

The resort is teeming with amenities, as well, from its two pools, one of which includes a waterfall, slide, and hot tubs.

The resort has its own private beach, too, though guests will need to take a short ferry to cross the marina to reach the beach. The location has a private feel to it, even though all beaches in Mexico are public. A beach club provides food and drinks for people spending the day here, as well.

The hotel's primary restaurant is La Marina, which is Mediterranean-inspired. A second restaurant is La Terraza. Guests can indulge at the El Cocay Amenity Spa & Gym, a newer addition to the resort, though the spa services are an extra charge.

In fact, El Cid El Moro Beach Hotel shares a lot of the facilities with its neighbor, El Cid Castilla Beach Hotel. This makes it one of the largest resorts in Mazatlan.

The 27-story hotel has dramatic views over Mazatlan's Golden Zone and out to its collection of three small islands just off shore. It truly has some of the best views in the entire city.

Of its nearly 400 rooms, guests can choose from a luxury double or king room or a one-bedroom suite. Rooms are warmly decorated, many with kitchenettes and balconies.
