46 Countries Can Travel to Thailand Without Quarantine

The Thai government allows foreign tourists from 46 approved countries to visit without being quarantined upon arrival if traveling by air.

Launching TAT News, Friday (10/22/2021), the policy will take effect on November 1, 2021.

This condition only applies to foreign tourists who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and must be in these countries for 21 days or more.

Meanwhile, the complete list of 46 countries that are allowed to travel to the Land of the White Elephant without being quarantined is as follows, Sunday (10/24/2021)

Unfortunately, Indonesia has not been included in the list. Meanwhile, Thai citizens and foreign nationals permanently residing do not need to be in these countries for 21 days or more.

However, travelers must still leave for Thailand from the list of countries and return within 21 days.


Before traveling, foreign tourists from these 46 countries need to comply with a number of conditions, namely as follows:
  • Manage Certificate of Entry (CoE) or proof of registration to enter Thailand online via https://coethailand.mfa.go.th
  • Bringing negative Covid-19 results whose samples were taken no more than 72 hours before departure
  • If you have just recovered from Covid-19, you must bring a Medical Healing Certificate issued no later than three months
  • An insurance policy with coverage of not less than US$50,000 covering the cost of treatment and other medical expenses related to Covid-19, including hospitalization for the duration of traveling in Thailand-except Thai citizens who are entitled to national health insurance
  • Confirmation of payment for a stay of not less than one night upon arrival at a quarantine facility such as Alternative Quarantine (AQ), Organization Quarantine (QQ), Alternative Hospital Quarantine (AHQ), or SHA Plus certified hotel
  • Prepayment must include one night accommodation, Covid-19 PCR test and Antigen Test Kit (ATK)
  • Have a Covid-19 vaccine certificate approved by the Thai Ministry of Public Health or the World Health Organization no later than 14 days before departure
  • The requirements for proof of Covid-19 vaccine as in the previous point also apply to tourists who have just received one dose of vaccine
  • Travelers under the age of 12 and traveling with a parent or guardian are exempt from the Covid-19 vaccine proof requirement
  • Although excluded, the traveler category in the previous point must show a negative Covid-19 test result whose sample was taken no more than 72 hours before departure
  • Undergo inspections such as health screening and immigration procedures at Thailand's international airports, and submit all necessary documents to officers
  • Continue the journey to the designated Covid-19 test place, or to the accommodation that has been booked and perform the necessary Covid-19 test on day 0-1
  • Travelers must download the MorChana app, and wait at the accommodation for test results to be available within one day
  • If the results of the Covid-19 test are negative, tourists can continue their journey anywhere in Thailand. Each traveler will receive the ATK they have paid in advance when booking accommodation
  • Travelers who experience symptoms of Covid-19 must immediately test with the ATK that has been provided
  • If there are no symptoms, tourists must do a self-test with the ATK provided on days 6-7. Results must be shown to hotel or accommodation staff, and recorded in MorChana
  • Hotel staff or AQ should recommend that travelers self-monitor for seven days. If you experience symptoms of Covid-19, staff must immediately notify the officer in charge of controlling infectious diseases in their respective areas

Tourists from outside 46 countries can visit, but...

Although not departing from 46 countries that have been approved, the Thai government still allows foreign tourists who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 to visit.

Travelers can choose from 17 tourist destinations in the Blue Zone category, for a stay period of seven days before being able to travel to other destinations in Thailand.

The Blue Zone itself is a Sandbox tourist destination which has increased from the previous only 4 destinations.

Phuket Sandbox is a program that gives foreign tourists access to Phuket and is valid from July 1, 2021. However, only certain countries can enter and must be fully vaccinated.

Foreign tourists do not need to be quarantined but must stay in Phuket for a maximum of seven days before visiting other destinations in Thailand.

Travelers must also carry out a PCR test upon arrival in Thailand, and a test using the ATK method at the designated Covid-19 test site on days 6-7.

Furthermore, they must have health insurance coverage related to Covid-19 of US $ 50,000.

Meanwhile, the 17 tourist destinations that are in the Blue Zone or Business & Leisure Ultimate Experiences Zone categories are as follows:

  • Chon Buri (Banglamung, Pattaya, Si Racha, Ko Si Chang, dan Sattahip-Na Jomtien dan Bang Sarey)

  • Buri Ram (Mueang)

  • Phetchaburi (Cha-Am)
  • Phuket
  • Ranong (Ko Phayam)
  • Rayong (Ko Samet)
  • Loei (Chiang Khan)
  • Samut Prakan (Bandara Suvarnabhumi)
  • Surat Thani (Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan, dan Ko Tao)
  • Nong Khai (Mueang, Sangkhom, Si Chiang Mai, dan Tha Bo)
  • Udon Thani (Mueang, Ban Dung, Kumphawapi, Na Yung, Nong Han, dan Prachaksinlapakhom)
Previously only valid for 10 countries

Previously, the Thai government only allowed foreign tourists from 10 certain countries who had been vaccinated against Covid-19 in full doses to travel there without quarantine.

On Monday (11/10/2021), Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha announced that the 10 countries included China, Germany, Singapore, the United Kingdom and the US.

Launching Indonewtravel.com, Friday (15/10/2021), he revealed that the list of countries whose residents are exempt from quarantine upon arrival in Thailand will be further expanded starting January 1, 2022.
